Welcome to the Near South Side

Chicago's Near South is a community reborn. It is home to thriving businesses, five historic districts, covers at least eight TIF Districts; and includes major Cultural and Educational institutions in the City of Chicago. Looking today at the area just south of the Loop, from Lake Michigan west to the Chicago River, you'll find a vibrant place where you can live, work, play, study, and shop.

The plans for The 78 represent one of the most ambitious and transformative development projects in Chicago’s history. The 78 will have three interconnected and unique forces: a vibrant collection of surrounding neighborhoods; unprecedented investment in transportation and green and open spaces; and a bold master plan that unites residential, commercial, cultural, community and waterfront spaces in both organic and future-focused ways."
